Yangon: Stuck in Time

Hey everyone! After poring through a year’s worth of photos, I finalized picking some favourite shots from my time in Myanmar. I call the series “Yangon: Stuck in Time”. I chose this name because much of the country has experienced very little cultural and infrastructure change over the years, and the advancements that stalled in the 1950s are just starting up again. This is especially true of Yangon. Old Hino buses from the 60s still rule the streets. Cell phones weren’t widely available until about a few years ago. Skyscrapers, for the most part, are non-existent. And the Secretariat, the most amazing piece of architecture in the city, stays abandoned like a scene out of Jungle Book. But this is definitely where Yangon gets its charm, and why I am hopeful that when things get better, Yangon could be one of the nicest cities in all of Asia.
