Thought I’d put up a fun post for today. This is a small collection of mascot photos taken in Fukuoka, mainly from the Tenjin area. Businesses in Japan seem to love using them. In fact, the whole country loves characters. From Hello Kitty to Pikachu to Kumamon, every business entity, and many local governments, have their own original characters to endear their cause to the masses.
This last one is me with Pon de Lion, the mascot of Japan’s number one donut chain, Mister Donut. His name is derived from the store’s popular Pon de Ring, a very chewy donut that’s shaped like a baby teether. Good eats! No seriously, it’s pretty good.
